How to Make Fluffy Slime with Saline Solution

how-make-fluffy-slime-kidsThe girls have been begging me to make fluffy slime for the past year. I've always said NO because I kept hearing about the potential risks of making it with Borax. However, this week I found a kids safe fluffy slime recipe that uses saline solution or contact solution instead of Borax. So as long as the contact solution you use contains the ingredient "Boric Acid" your fluffy slime will turn out just as well as ours did.

Now, if you're new to making fluffy slime. "Boric Acid" is the activator in any slime recipe. This is the ingredient that turns the glue & baking soda mixture into slime. It also can be put in your hands during the kneading step to make the slime less sticky and remove the glue from your hands quicker. Be careful though, too much saline solution will make for a snappy, NOT STRETCHY, fluffy slime.

In regards to the glue, we used 1/2 a bottle of Elmer's School Glue to make our fluffy slime. I mention this because we also accidentally purchased a bottle of the stronger Elmer's School Glue and the slime made with this type of glue was very tough.

Overall, we found this fluffy slime recipe to be a resounding success. The kids had fun and I appreciated that they were actually learning a little bit of science along the way. So take inspiration from Kids Crafts by Three Sisters and have a slime party with friends.
