SUPPLIES YOU'LL NEED TO MAKE A PAPER PLATE LOLLIPOPS:
• 2 Paper Plates
• Paint Brushes
• Hot Glue or regular Glue
• 1 Wooden Dowel - We used a super long one from Michael’s = 69¢
• Cellophane - we found a large roll at Michael’s = $2.99
STEPS TO MAKE PAPER PLATE LOLLIPOPS:
STEP 1: Begin by painting two paper plates in a fun lollipop pattern and let dry for about 15 minutes. We did a few designs, but focused on swirls and colored quadrants in Christmas Colors as seen in our video.
In our video we used heavy duty papers plate from Costco; however you could probably use a styrofoam plate as well.
NOTE: We lightly sketched our pattern in pencil on the paper plate before painting to make the design easier to paint.
STEP 2: Once the paint is dry, flip the paper plate over to apply the hot glue on the outer lip of the paper plate.
STEP 3: Quickly lay the other paper plate lip on top of the other plate so the painted designs are showing on both sides.
STEP 4: Cut a little notch at the bottom of the paper plate. Just big enough that the dowel rod can slide in between the plates.
NOTE: If you're using a large dowel with the intent of sticking your paper plate lollipops in a yard then push the dowel rod all the way to the top of the paper plate.
If you've opted for the shorter dowel rod to use the paper plate lollipops as a prop or put inside a vase than ONLY push the dowel rod up part way (about 1/2"). Apply a few dabs of hot glue between the paper plate and the dowel rod to maintain stability.
STEP 5: Next, unroll the cellophane and wrap the entire paper plate lollipop.
STEP 6: Gather the cellophane at the bottom and wrap with a ribbon
STEP 7: HAVE FUN & enjoy your Paper Plate Lollipop!
