One of our favorite Christmas Movies is a classic, "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer". We took inspiration from "The Bumble" in the movie who tries to capture "Rudolph" and created an adorable Christmas Game called: "Rescue the Reindeer!"  Using just a few items including an egg carton & golf balls, learn how easy it is to make this fun kids craft.

This kids craft would be perfect for a classroom project, brownie troop assignment or Christmas party. We hope you have as much making "Rudolph" & "The Bumble" as we did!

ITEMS YOU'LL NEED TO MAKE OUR "RESUCE THE REINDEER" CHRISTMAS GAME:

• Empty Egg Carton ~ dozen or half dozen egg container
• Golf balls or ping pong balls
• Paint
• 1 - 9x12 Sheet of White Fur (Found at Hobby Lobby)
• Hot Glue Gun
• White Felt or Foam for the Teeth ~ optional
• Mod Podge® Sparkle ~ We used the Sparkle version to glitter up our reindeer and protect the paint on our bumble.

STEPS TO CREATE OUR "RESCUE THE REINDEER" CHRISTMAS GAME:

STEP 1:  Begin by drawing the facial elements of the bumble. Use the two egg carton notches as guides for the pupils, draw one large circle around each notch for eyes.  Paint the interior of the circle and notch White. Everything else around the eyes will be painted light Blue. Take the Blue all the way the edges of the egg carton and about 1/2" on the top.  While that is drying move to Step 2.

STEP 2:  Grab your Black paint. Paint black pupils in the egg carton notches and small black ovals for the nose. Tilt the ovals a little to look more like nostrils. The final treatment to finish "The Bumble's" face is a black outlines around the large White eyes.

STEP 3:  While the egg carton is drying, paint one golf ball White & 5 golf balls Brown. The White golf ball will become your Bumble's face & the Brown golf balls will become the reindeer to be rescued.

For the BUMBLE: Add a light blue mask with two eyes as seen below.

For the REINDEER: Give them bright white eyes, pupils and of course a red nose!

YOU'RE HALF WAY THERE...

STEP 4:  Now cover the egg carton with White fur. Drape the top of the White fur over the egg carton and trim the back end right where the egg carton flips open. We just eyeballed it.  Grab your glue gun and glue the White fur to the top, sides & back of the egg carton.  AS SHOWN IN THE VIDEO. You should really see the bumble come to life now.

STEP 5:  With the fur left over, cut a small sliver of fur (about 1/2" thick) and hot glue it from one side to the other right beneath the Bumble's nose. This will give the appearance of his Mustache.

STEP 6:  Cut a zig zag shape from the White foam to create the teeth. Then hot glue them to the underside of the Bumble's face. Yep...he's looking fierce!

STEP 7:  This step is really optional, but flip the egg carton over and paint the entire bottom White.

STEP 8: Grab a friend and start playing!

HERE'S HOW TO PLAY OUR "RESCUE THE REINDEER" CHRISTMAS GAME:

2 PEOPLE: Let the dealer rearrange the golf balls in between each turn. Then the other person closes their eyes to select a golf ball. If the person selects a reindeer you keep going. If you pick the bumble, set it back in the egg carton and allow the dealer to rearrange the Bumble and reindeer. The object is to rescue as many reindeers as you can without grabbing the Bumble.

3 OR MORE PEOPLE: Rescue the reindeer until you get the Bumble. If you select the Bumble, set it back into the egg carton and allow the dealer to rearrange the golf balls. Then it's the next persons turn. The person with the most reindeer after they are all picked wins the game.
